If anybody would like Oakleigh Ave fixed, you can call Dan Mccormick at(631)727-3200 ext.605 (he is the town attorney) or, George in Hwy dept. (631)727-3200. George told me they knew about the problem for 5 yrs, he's new to the dept. They say it's a money issue, they could possibly use the stimulus or grant to fix it. If more people complain they will put it on the top of there list.

I spoke with my father, a longtime city manager, about the situation with Oakleigh Ave and the current fence. He suggested that everyone put pressure on the Highway Superintendent, George Woodson, 631.727.3200, ext. 228. He is an elected official and we can request that they schedule a public meeting to discuss the issue. We do not need to identify ourselves as registered Riverhead voters. We can also request a copy of the department's budget to see where money is going. Everyone needs to call him and pressure him for a meeting asap. And when such meeting is scheduled we will need to pack the house. Essentially, the town cannot devalue our homes or deprive us of use of the road/beach. I will also put together a petition which I will circulate this weekend. Drop by cottage C9 to sign.

Just found this on the website Q & A...
Why hasn’t the Town paved my street yet? Maintenance of the roadways is the responsibility of the Highway Department; George Woodson is the Superintendent of the Highway Department. Every year, the Town Board allocates funds to support the Department’s Street Re-Paving, Drainage, and Rehabilitation programs. Click on “Highway” under the “Town Hall Department” link for additional information. You may also call the Highway Department at 631-727-3200 ext. 228.
